Meals & Snacks

Meals and snacks will be supplied by the center. Parents are asked to detail any allergies to foods, additives, or colorants on their child’s enrollment form.

A weekly menu, subject to change, is prominently displayed on the Parent Communication Board in the car park. We encourage suggestions and nutritional recipes from parents to keep our menu both exciting and health-focused.

Food & Drink Policy

This policy serves as a practical reference guide to ensure a consistent approach to kosher food laws, encompassing the types of food and drinks consumed, food preparation and cooking, and the serving and eating of these items within the center. The Recommended Daily Intake is adhered to for children in our care.

This policy applies to all employees, families, and visitors utilizing the center’s services and facilities.

  1. Health and Safety: To safeguard the health and safety of all individuals consuming food and drink on the premises.

  2. Kosher Compliance: To ensure that all individuals using the center are exposed to kosher foods and drinks, in accordance with the laws of Kashrut.

  3. Standards Maintenance: To uphold our high standard of Kashrut, all foods and drinks must be in original sealed packages and approved by either the Jewish Enrichment Coordinator or Center Coordinator. These regulations are clearly outlined in the current Melbourne Kosher Foods Bulletin booklet, used as a guideline.

  4. Fresh Fruit: Fresh fruit may be brought into the center, but it must not be cut or peeled in any way.

  5. Daily Food Requirements: The weekly menu meets the daily food requirements for children under five, providing nutritious kosher food from all five main food groups.

  6. Community Input: Parents and staff are encouraged to contribute to the weekly menu, displayed in the car park.

  7. Bottle Warming: Bottles brought from home can be in our warmer.

  8. No Outside Food: Children should not bring food to the center due to Kosher Laws and allergies. If they are hungry during the early shift, sandwiches are provided

  9. Nut-Free Zone: We kindly request that no nut products be brought to the centre to maintain a nut-safe environment.
