Our teen girls leaders enjoy a preparation meeting for the upcoming Jew Crew year.

Our very own Rabbi Reuvi Cooper delivering a Professional Development session for the Rabbis and Rebbetzins of the RCV.

In the lead up to the global #ShabbatTogther, a global Shabbat of disability inclusion on Shabbat 9th February, Reuvi discussed the importance of communal leaders changing their mindset regarding inclusion, the unique Torah approach of respecting all people no matter their ability (or disability), and practical ideas on how to make Shuls more accessible and inclusive.

Toward Inclusion

People with disabilities make up 18.6% of the population, and slowly the efforts to include them in broader society are making headway. In the Jewish community, it is up to us to make sure we are doing our part to allow these individuals access to everything Jewish, just like everyone else around them.

The beginning of any progress is discussion and awareness.

Join Chabad Malvern for a powerful two part series examining Jewish texts, modern studies as well as many learning exercises to discover how to practice inclusion of all people, no matter their ability (or disability), in our daily lives.

Presented by Rabbi Reuvi Cooper from a personal and professional perspective.

2 Tuesdays,  February 5 and 12
8:00-9:00pm

No charge. Booking essential.

Parshah
Loving the Stranger
The Torah asks, why should you not hate the stranger? Because you once stood where he stands now. You know the heart of the stranger because you were once a stranger in the land of Egypt.

Would You Hurt a Fly?
Cruelty towards animals is strictly forbidden by the Torah. For two distinct reasons: one intrinsic to the life of the animal itself; the other extrinsic, yet no less important ... indeed, perhaps even more important.

Parshah in a Nutshell

Parshat Mishpatim

Following the revelation at Sinai, G‑d legislates a series of laws for the people of Israel. These include the laws of the indentured servant; the penalties for murder, kidnapping, assault and theft; civil laws pertaining to redress of damages, the granting of loans and the responsibilities of the “Four Guardians”; and the rules governing the conduct of justice by courts of law.

Also included are laws warning against mistreatment of foreigners; the observance of the seasonal festivals, and the agricultural gifts that are to be brought to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem; the prohibition against cooking meat with milk; and the mitzvah of prayer. Altogether, the Parshah of Mishpatim contains 53 mitzvot—23 imperative commandments and 30 prohibitions.

G‑d promises to bring the people of Israel to the Holy Land, and warns them against assuming the pagan ways of its current inhabitants.

The people of Israel proclaim, “We will do and we will hear all that G‑d commands us.” Leaving Aaron and Hur in charge in the Israelite camp, Moses ascends Mount Sinai and remains there for forty days and forty nights to receive the Torah from G‑d.
