Meeting Ariel Beigel

On their recent trip to Israel, Chanchkie and Velly had the privilege to meet Ariel Beigel who recently married, Sarah Tehia Litman in a wedding that united and inspired the Jewish world in spite of the terror and loss that the Litman family had suffered.

They passed on their best wishes and the funds raised in a raffle by many members of the Melbourne Jewish community to assist the Litman family.

Thank You

Before our recent trip to Israel, Chanchkie and I co-hosted a Chanukah party for Chabad Malvern young adults, where we raised funds for Israeli soldiers injured in the last Gaza war and in the recent spout of terror.

On our last day in Israel, we visited Tel Hashomer hospital where we had the chance to meet and talk with the Israeli soldiers and to share our love and well wishes with them. We also had the opportunity to deliver the gifts we purchased with the donations.

We would like to thank Rabbi Menachem Kutner from Chabad’s Terror Victims Project , for organising our visit and for the amazing work he does and continues to do.

We would also like to thank Nicci & Justin Kabbani and Bianca & Dan Monheit from Hardhat Digital, for hosting the party.

Thank you to all those who joined the party and donated!

The Cleves Get
An 18th-Century Saga

On August 14, 1766, Isaac, son of Eliezer Neiberg of Mannheim, married Leah, daughter of Jacob Guenzhausen of Bonn. Days later, the bridegroom took 94 gold crowns of the dowry and disappeared. This troubling episode began a stormy debate between the great rabbis of the time.

The sages state that “all sevenths are cherished.” This is the reason, they explain, why Moses was the one who merited to bring G-d’s Presence into this world—because he was the seventh from Abraham.

The Parshah In A Nutshell

Parshat Beshalach

Soon after allowing the children of Israel to depart from Egypt, Pharaoh chases after them to force their return, and the Israelites find themselves trapped between Pharaoh’s armies and the sea. G‑d tells Moses to raise his staff over the water; the sea splits to allow the Israelites to pass through, and then closes over the pursuing Egyptians. Moses and the children of Israel sing a song of praise and gratitude to G‑d.

In the desert the people suffer thirst and hunger, and repeatedly complain to Moses and Aaron. G‑d miraculously sweetens the bitter waters of Marah, and later has Moses bring forth water from a rock by striking it with his staff. He causes manna to rain down from the heavens before dawn each morning, and quails to appear in the Israelite camp each evening.

The children of Israel are instructed to gather a double portion of manna on Friday, as none will descend on Shabbat, the divinely decreed day of rest. Some disobey and go to gather manna on the seventh day, but find nothing. Aaron preserves a small quantity of manna in a jar, as a testimony for future generations.

In Rephidim, the people are attacked by the Amalekites, who are defeated by Moses’ prayers and an army raised by Joshua.
